At First Christian Church, children are a priority. We believe that it is vital to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with all young people. Our goal is to help these young people experience a personal relationship with Christ, involve them in Christian Fellowships, and assist them in their process of becoming the person God created them to be. We do this by providing opportunities for Bible Study, Fellowship, Service, and Music programs. Please be a part of this vital Children's Ministry at First Christian Church.
LOGOS AFTER SCHOOL MINISTRYLogos is a mid-week opportunity for learning, discipleship and fellowship in a Christian community. Logos Children’s Ministry expresses the
conviction that Christian relationships are best learned when consistently experienced in community–specifically in Christian communities where the selfless kind of caring for others found uniquely in Christ is intentionally taught and practiced.
We will do this through four key elements; Theology (Bible Study), Practice (recreation), Family Time (dinner in family groups), and Worship Skills (singing, prayer, drama, hand chimes, etc.)
The Children's Ministries of First Christian Church will establish morals and spiritual values through Logos, Sunday School, Children's Church/Extended Session, Vacation Bible School and other special Children's Ministry events throughout the year.
We are committed to:
•Providing a safe, accepting, consistent environment
•Teaching faith and life skills
•Involving the entire family in activities
•Providing an extended faith family in order to model Christian values

The Christian Life Center (CLC) is located behind the main church building and can be accessed from Broadway, Loop 323 or Donnybrook. The CLC is a multi-purpose facility consisting of a gymnasium, weight room, racquetball court, men's and women's lockers, with Jacuzzi and saunas. The game room includes a pool table, ping pong and air hockey, while the Crafts room houses two kilns for pottery classes.
The classrooms serve as Sunday school classes and also host several outside organizations, including the Kiwanis Club, the Newcomers Club of Tyler and the Northeast Area office of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The John Bell Scout Room hosts Boy Scout Troop 335, as well as two Girl Scout troops. We are also very proud to be the home for the Cancer Foundation For Life, a fitness program for members of our community who are battling (or have beaten) that terrible disease.
Other programs that are offered include Jazzercize, Yoga, Martial Arts, Tai Chi and for those who are not looking to exercise...Mahjong. The CLC is simply a wonderful place to praise God, and fellowship with others through recreation, exercise and activities.
We invite you to take advantage of this wonderful facility. Church members have full access to these facilities during normal hours of operation. Security card access is available after hours. If you are a visitor to our church, we can provide you with a guest card, giving you full access to these facilities while you contemplate your future at First Christian Church-Tyler.

Outreach is a significant commitment of First Christian Church in Tyler - to go outside our building to the community and around the world. We have offered our facilities and many have worked countless hours to serve as a shelter for refugees from coastal hurricanes on several occasions. First Christian Tyler has a long tradition of budgeting 10% of our operational budget to outreach. Our church family has also committed additional resources from other groups, such as Sunday School classes, Disciples Women, etc., to Outreach. In addition, we have sponsored an annual mission team to Central America for 9+ years. Most recently, we sent a team of 17 to Guatemala, where we helped with several projects and a medical team. In August, a group of our youth will be on Galveston Island to help with recovery from Hurricane Ike.
