Ongoing Facility Updates at FCC Tyler
Big things are happening around our church campus as we continue to care for and improve our facilities! Here’s a look at the projects currently in motion:
🪳 Sanctuary Termite Treatment
Last week, a small section of the Sanctuary was blocked off after dirt from a termite colony was discovered. Thanks to the quick response of our pest control team, no damage was done to the wood. An extensive treatment was performed around the Sanctuary and both gardens, including the removal of a large 4-foot termite tunnel along the Bell Garden wall. This preventative treatment will help protect the area for years to come. The total cost of this treatment was just under $1,000, and our contractors feel confident this will resolve the issue moving forward.
🚰 Main Kitchen Pipe Replacement
If you’ve been in the building this week, you’ve probably noticed the Main Kitchen has been closed. A leak in the old cast-iron drainpipes—original to the 1965 construction—was discovered, causing water to drain onto HVAC equipment in the Basement. After receiving quotes, Glasscock Plumbing was selected to replace the pipes completely, with work beginning Tuesday, September 2. The kitchen is expected to be ready for Breakfast & Bible Study on Wednesday morning. This project is estimated to cost between $5,000 and $7,000, and has been approved by our Finance and Property Committees.

🏗 Roof Replacement Across Campus
Our roof replacement project is well underway! The flat roofs of the CLC Building and much of the Main Building are being replaced. Work began above the Gym due to its complex construction, which has occasionally required temporary closures during demolition. We’re happy to share that the Gym roof demolition will wrap up Thursday, August 28, and the Gym will fully reopen for activities Tuesday, September 2, after Labor Day.
🚪 Quieter Doors at the CLC
Good news — no more slamming doors! The CLC entrance doors have been updated with soft-close mechanisms, making the space quieter and more welcoming. Check out the transformation in this short video: Watch Here.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete these projects. These updates are just one way we’re working to ensure our facilities remain safe, functional, and inviting for everyone.
