Veterans Memorial Highway to be announced at FCC
The Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce Veterans Committee is hosting a press conference and reception on Friday, September 19, from 12–1 p.m. at First Christian Church to celebrate the official naming of Veterans Memorial Highway.
This newly designated stretch of U.S. Highway 69, from South Loop 323 in Tyler to the northern limits of Bullard, will serve as a permanent tribute to all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The project was unanimously supported by the Smith County Commissioners Court back in January and made official through Senate Bill 1229 and House Bill 2914, both going into effect on September 1, 2025. The Veterans Committee worked closely with Senator Bryan Hughes, Representative Daniel Alders, and County Judge Neal Franklin to make this possible.
“This highway designation is a lasting tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our Veterans,” said Jackie Clay-Robertson, Co-Chair of the Veterans Committee. “We’re proud to see this become a reality.”
The public is invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served.
