Week of Compassion Gifts and Goal

Week of Compassion, or "WOC" is a very specific Disciples reference, that may mean nothing if you're new to us. It's both one week, set aside, in the church year for fundraising for compassionate purposes — AND it's the name of the ministry arm of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that responds to natural disasters and human suffering, locally and globally, 24/7/365.

WOC shows up, in places of hardship and lasting need, around the clock. When we hear of some tragedy or struggle and wish we could do something to help, we Disciples are there, through WOC.

A key feature of this ministry is that 100% of our gifts go directly to help someone in need — salaries and administrative costs are already covered by an endowment (which FCC Tyler and about 100 other Disciples churches created jointly, years ago).

This year's dates to receive Week of Compassion offerings in every Disciples congregation are Feb 15-22. Revs. Chris Pulliam and Ginger Brandt will swap pulpits on the 15th, and Rev Pulliam has a Week of Compassion message planned.

To be part of this proliferation of helping hands, mark your gift "WOC" and include it in our Sunday offerings; mail in a check; choose the red "give" button at our website and pull down the menu to specify Week of Compassion.  Our 2026 goal is to raise at least $2,500 this week.
