Blue Christmas 2025: A Quiet Night for Grief & Hope
The season of Christmas doesn’t always arrive with cheer. For many, the bright lights, busy schedules, and festive expectations can feel overwhelming—especially when we’re carrying grief, loneliness, stress, or the lingering ache of a hard year. When the world seems determined to be merry, those tender places inside us can feel even heavier.
Blue Christmas is a gentle alternative to the usual holiday bustle—a quiet worship service designed for anyone who needs space to breathe, remember, grieve, or simply sit with God in the stillness. This annual tradition at First Christian Church Tyler offers room for both sorrow and hope, honoring the truth that not every heart feels light in December.
All are welcome. You’re invited just as you are, and you’re encouraged to bring friends or family who may also need this kind of sacred pause.
We will begin by gathering together in the open hall of the church, then move into the Contemporary Worship Space for a time of reflection, prayer, Scripture, and soft music. It’s a service that whispers rather than shouts—one that holds space for anyone carrying hurt this holiday season.
